University faculty and administrators must consider the ethical issues raised by the use of service-learning pedagogy. Structured around the usual topics that guide ethical research, this article raises questions and concerns, and gives specific examples. Given the potential for harm and the power differentials that exist in the service-learning arena, universities have an ethical responsibility to carefully consider ethical issues and to establish sufficient oversight of service-learning courses.Downloads
