Going Global with Service Learning

Abstract

Service learning programs have demonstrated effectiveness in helping today~ students develop essential levels of understanding about selfawareness, citizenship, the environment, diversity and leadership. International service learning extends the learning experience to other cultures, providing opportunities for language development and crosscultural communication skills, as well as the realization that the world is an interdependent system. The design and outcomes of successful international service learning programs are presented.
