Injury is a major public health problem. Each year, over 143, 000 Americans die from injuries. Financially, injuries cost the nation over $44 billion. Public health methods can impact injury through application of technology, policy, education, and incentives. Metropolitan universities have great opportunities as key institutions to assist in reducing injuries within their communities by utilizing their research proficiencies, student and volunteer work forces, and as providers of education and training services.Downloads
