In making decisions, the president of a metropolitan university must respond to many external and internal constituencies. One challenge of leadership at an institution which places high value on shared governance is to collaborate with the faculty in the decision-making process. Although collective decisions take more time and may be perceived by outsiders as weakness, in the experience of Weber State University, communication and faculty involvement in decisions results in better and more thorough policies that benefit from greater campus-wide understanding and support.Downloads
